Dear past self, 

Listen up! This is your future self and I want you to stay calm and read my message carefully as this might eventually affect the future of us.


Always have confidence in yourself

        I know you have always been insecure and lacking confidence due to many reasons since you were small as your confidence level hit the lowest point during secondary school because puberty hits you hard. The pimples on your face destroy your self-confidence and you do not have the courage to face others in the eyes. Trust me, you are nothing in others’ eyes, just try to be yourself, live your life to the fullest and make yourself comfortable.

Problems encountered

In the future, you will be facing several problems such as academic, relationship, etc.

    The academic results at the pre-university level might not be in our expectations but still, you will be able to pursue an IT-related course that you always wanted as your first undergraduate certificate. You will end up studying at University Tunku Abdul Rahman as a Software Engineering student and fighting real hard for a first-class degree so that you can waive the loans borrowed by PTPTN. UTAR’s course is as hard as to how rumors say but it will always be my first choice in terms of affordability and education quality. Nobody wants to be in ‘huge’ debt when they are just fresh graduates right? So, stop procrastinating during your studies and work hard for it!

UTAR KB Block

    Don’t expect your university life will be very colourful. There will be a global pandemic called COVID-19 awaiting you in the year 2020. I first thought I will be able to enjoy campus life physically, but the reality is you will be spending your precious university time in front of your laptop. On the other way of thinking, this is quite a good opportunity to have more time to spend with family and be able to save on rental fees. The most important stuff is, you still don’t have to be independent yet and worried about what to eat, managing dirty laundry and household hygiene, etc. Your all-rounded mother will still be there when you need anything. No worries, you will get back to campus physically in Year 2 Semester 2 after Chinese New Year and be renting a single room with air conditioning at a random condominium near UTAR.

Other than that, here is one bad news… Our beloved grandma passed away. She left us peacefully due to aging. I hope you are able to stay strong after knowing this news. I would like to give her a tribute here because she takes good care of me since I was a kid. Every time she spotted me going to hang out with my buddies, she will insist to give me a few pieces of banknotes even if I rejected her. I hope you will appreciate the moment with grandma as for me now, it had became a memory and I am not able to be by her side anymore. I believe grandma will continue to be our guardian angel in heaven and live her good new life there, so please do not feel sad, she would not want us to feel sad. Agree?


Advice from the future

It’s time to get mature and forgive everyone that criticized or was against you during the path to success as everyone shows up for a reason. Pick up each lesson taught by every individual and face every mistake and wrong decision you did in the past. Do what you love, believe, and invest in yourself to be a better person. Just try to enjoy every moment, you will be fine and successful after all, trust me and good luck!


Life has no limitations, except the ones you make.

Dear future self, keep up your hard work but please be reminded, work hard play hard. Take a moment and go have yourself a proper entertainment and personal moment. Do not ever and ever dare to feel guilty for taking time for yourself.      Do you still remember what happened during your secondary school? You neglected your studies because you are lazy, not disciplined, too focused on relationships, etc. In the end, you lost everything including your academic result, relationship with 'her', and your certain friends. I am here just to remind you to stay focused on your own work and never lose your focus to reach your own goal.
